The Dame Vera Lynn Story

BBC2

FORMAT: 1 x 60′

A warm and engrossing portrait of Dame Vera Lynn, one of Britain’s National Treasures. Now 93, her Greatest Hits album recently went to number one in the charts. Sir David Frost interviews Dame Vera at her home in Sussex and hears about her extraordinary career. She talks revealingly about her childhood in London’s East Ham; her days singing with the Big Bands of the 30’s; her role as WW2’s Forces Sweetheart and her successful post-war career. Sir Cliff Richard, Alan Titchmarsh, Hayley Westenra, Vera’s 96 year old brother, Roger and only daughter, Virginia all contribute.
